Breathe FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Breathe for? If you are a woman in ministry, or a Christian woman in need of a sabbatical, this retreat is for you! This is a faith based, Christ-centered retreat meant to provide women of faith with a respite from the busyness of life and service.

Where is the retreat? We will be staying at the Christian Training Center at the Inn (CTCI) located in Franklin, NC (www.lifeisrelationships.com).

When do I need to arrive and depart? Things get started Thursday evening at dinner (a packet will be sent to registrants with the specifics of the retreat). After breakfast and worship on Sunday, transportation will be provided back to the Ashville airport.

If I drive to the retreat, what is the address to the retreat center? CTCI is located at 234 Watchman Ln. Franklin, NC 28734. Their phone number is 828.524.5741.

Where should I fly into? All flights should come into the Asheville, NC airport for free transportation from the airport to the retreat center, and should arrive no later than 4:pm on Thursday, October 5.

Can I fly into a different airport? Yes, you can fly into wherever is most convenient. However, you will be responsible to secure your own transportation to retreat center and back to the airport for departure.

Am I allowed to bring my children? No, this retreat is meant for you only. As much as we all love our kiddos, getting alone with God and filling our cups with Him is vital for ourselves, as well as for those we serve including our families.

Will I be able to use my phone? Breathe is an “un-plugged” retreat which means that we will ask you to leave work devices such as iPads, computers, and such at home. Phones are allowed, of course, and we recognize the need to check in at home occasionally but recommend that you do it only once or twice a day and that it be during down or alone time. The more you unplug, the more refreshing the retreat will be for you.

Will I be able to take pictures with my phone? Yes!  We encourage everyone to take lots of pictures and will ask that you share those pictures with us. At the end of the retreat we will put the pictures together in a highlight video!

What if I have a food allergy? On the Get to Know You form, there is a space provided for you to let us know of any food allergies or sensitivities, as well as any physical limitations and emergency contact info. The retreat center will work hard to accommodate any dietary needs.

What all will the retreat center provide? All meals* will be provided as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. In addition, they will provide bedding and towels. You will need to provide toiletries. (*On Friday, we’ll enjoy a relaxing day out in Highlands, NC and you will need spending money for that day, as well as money for lunch and any treats/snacks you’d like to buy for yourself.)

Will I be sharing a bed? No, each room will have 2 occupants but each will have their own bed, and each room has its own bathroom as well.

How can I help serve? As much as we love the servant hearts that will be on this retreat, our desire is for you to be the recipient of love and service for these few days. This is your turn to be served!

How should I dress? Very comfortably! And make-up is completely optional!! We want you to feel like you can hang out and be as casual as you want to be.  Yoga pants, jeans, sweat pants…it will be cool in the evenings so bring comfy and warm options.

What will the schedule of events be during the weekend? A packet will be sent to each registrant outlining the weekend in more detail. But the shortened version will be: Thursday – arrival, dinner, group time; Friday – breakfast and morning session, free time in the resort community of Highlands, NC, dinner and group time; Saturday – breakfast, group time, lunch, free time, dinner, group time; Sunday – breakfast, worship, departure.

What is there to do in Highlands, NC? After our morning session on Friday, we’ll drive up into the mountains to Highlands, NC where we can shop, eat, hike or even take in a massage at Old Edward’s Inn (you will need to book your own services, however). This is a leisure day of just enjoying each other in this quaint mountain town.

How much money should I bring? Most everything is covered in the retreat fee, however, you will need to bring money for Friday afternoon in Highlands, and Saturday should you decide to do anything during your free time on your own that would require additional spending money.

What else should I bring? At the retreat, you will have all food, bedding, etc. provided, so all you need to bring are your clothes, toiletries and any other personal items you think you might need. Some women love to pack their sound machines, personal snack choices and such, and that is completely up to you! Bring whatever will make you feel most comfortable. And don’t forget your Bible and a journal for our conversations and your time alone.

Who do I contact if I have more questions? Sara Goede is your contact person for questions regarding the retreat. Please email her at sara@bestillbefree.com.
