Candy Pancake Breakfast Super Sunday

The Sunday after Thanksgiving can be challenging. Attendance can be down as many people travel. However, it is also a Sunday when you can have many quests as people are traveling and visiting your church! It is also a Sunday when your own people may be deciding whether to attend church or not due to family being in town, a focus on it being a relaxing “family weekend,” or just being tired from all the cooking and family outings. It’s also a Sunday when it can be extra challenging to staff the children’s ministry with so many people out of town or otherwise unavailable.

THE SOLUTION: Host a Candy Pancake Breakfast for the kids! It’s something they will LOVE, TALK ABOUT, and LOOK FORWARD TO, and even BRING A FRIEND! You’ll also have some awesome photo ops for sharing and promoting in the future.

This Super Sunday helps reinforce with kids how important it is to be thankful for all we've been given! It's also a fun time to enjoy some yummy pancakes with friends, new and old!

Operation: Thanks Thanksgiving Single Lesson

We live in a "gimmie gimmie" culture that focuses on how much it can get. God wants us to have an attitude of gratitude for the many blessings we already have. The purpose of this unit is not only to help kids focus on being thankful, but to challenge them to think of some people that they haven't expressed thanks to, and help them think of some ideas to express their thanks in practical ways.

Operation: Thanks includes an assignment after the lesson where children will be challenged to do something to demonstrate thankfulness to three people who have helped them, yet they haven't yet responded to in a tangible expression of thanks.

Theme Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Gimmie! Gimmie! Thanksgiving Game

Gimmie! Gimmie! Thanksgiving is a fast-paced, holiday trading game that illustrates thankfulness vs. selfishness. Ideal for just a few kids as well as large groups, the object is to collect a complete set of Thanksgiving cards, while avoiding the greedy Gimmie! Gimmie!

Hectic fun unfolds as players shout "Two! Two!" and other combinations of cards to trade, all while working to build a matched set in the time allotted. Adapted by Karl Bastian as a solution for understaffed volunteer situations around the holidays, it provides an interactive object lesson while requiring just a few leaders to run.
