Engaging with social media can have both positive and negative effects on people, especially children. 

A 2022 report from the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom confirms what many parents already suspected: children are avid social media users. “Some 99% of children ages three to seventeen used the internet in 2021.” Findings concluded that whether being shown videos by a parent or someone else, 16% of three and four-year-old’s are being exposed to media content at a very young age, with Tok-Tok and YouTube topping the list.
