My Dollar is Stuck

This object lesson uses a narrow necked bottle and a dollar bill to help show kids that God can do things that, to you, seem impossible.

Materials:

  • Dollar bill
  • Bottle with a narrow neck

Demonstration:

There are some things that are simply impossible to do. For example, you've probably heard the phrase, "pick yourself up by your own bootstraps." That's impossible. You also can't sneeze with your eyes open, nor can you touch your nose to the center of your back.

However, some things seem impossible but aren't. Solving a Rubik's cube is one of those things. I've never been able to do it, but there are people who can solve it in seconds, even though it seems impossible. Magicians perform tricks all the time that seem impossible, yet they manage to do them.

Today's science demonstration falls into one of those two categories, and we're going to see if you can figure out which one it is. Is it truly impossible, or does it just seem that way? Here's the setup:
