Author/Source: Karl Bastian

Topic: Praise

Grade school lesson with songs about PRAISE.

PREPARATION: MAKE SOME GIANT LETTERS of the word PRAISE and decorate them so they look cool. On the back put the explanations for what each letter stands for as seen below.

INTRO:

CALL FIVE KIDS UP FRONT

Give each a poster board with the following letters, only (for humor's sake) put them in the wrong order and try to pronounce the words: (such as) ASEPRI or SARPIE. Let the kids correct the spelling for you, then pointing to each, lead in a cheer:

Gimmie a "P" "R" "A" "I" "S" "E" What’s that spell? PRAISE!

How do we PRAISE GOD? Have each turn around card one by one….

P ray to God - Pray and dedicate this time of Praise to the Lord

R ead the Word of God - Have a kid read READ PSALM 150 from the BIBLE

A dmire God - Ask kids what they admire about God

I nstruction from God - That’s what we are doing right now!

S inging to God - Let’s SING!

E xcitement about God! Are you excited about God? To be here today? Then let’s sing about it.

PUPPET INTRO: Use Rock puppet to talk about how, if WE don't praise God, then the rocks will have to - for God WILL be praised!

Have the kids read Luke 19: 37-40

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!"
"Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!"
"I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

ALSO READ Psalm 98:4-6

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn -- shout for joy before the LORD, the King. (NIV)

Let's do some NOISY PRAISE….
Click on the song title for lyrics and a graphic. You can look up your own version of a lyric or motion video to use on the screen during service.
