Communion Part One

Membership Level Starter

Author/Source: Pastor Jeanne McIntosh

Topic: Communion

Children need to have a basic understanding of what communion is, and the purpose of taking communion. They will then be more prepared when this important event takes place in their own lives. This will make it more meaningful to them in their spiritual journey with Christ.

What is Communion?
Communion is a sacrament, ritual, or practice that we do in the church that Jesus Christ established for us when He gave the first communion with His disciples before He was crucified on the cross. We use bread and wine (grape juice) at communion. Eucharist and the Lord’s Supper are other words for communion.

Why do we take communion?
