Reflecting God

Membership Level Starter

Author/Source: Tim Brown

Topic: Living for Jesus

This object lesson uses a driveway reflector to teach the kids the importance of living for Jesus and letting his light shine through you for others to see.

Object: Bicycle or driveway reflector and a flashlightReflecting God
Verses: 1 John 1:5, Matthew 5:16

Lesson: Introduction: (Hold up reflector.) Who can tell me what this is? Where do you see things like this? What time of day are they the most useful? This is called a reflector and its purpose is to shine when light hits it so you can see something or mark where it is at when it is dark out. Does this reflector have any light in itself? No. It simply reflects or shines back any light that hits it. (Turn on the flashlight and shine it on the reflector to demonstrate.)

This is a little like the sun and the moon. The sun is a big fiery ball in space that gives off light. Some of that light travels to the moon where it is reflected off and heads to earth. The moon has no light of its own, but yet it still shines brightly at night. It is the light from the sun that you are seeing.
