How Strong Is Your Faith?

Membership Level Starter

Author/Source: Tim Brown

Topic: Faith

This is a science object lesson using water, salt, a 9-volt battery and paper clips to break the bond between hydrogen and oxygen atoms in water molecules. Even though the bonds of some atoms may be broken it doesn't have a real impact on the overall amount of water. When you go through trials and temptations and seek to handle them in your strength, it may seem to weaken your faith, but once you get your eyes back on Jesus, you'll find that it is still there.

How Strong Is Your Faith?

Materials:

  • Glass container
  • Pitcher of water
  • Salt
  • 9-volt battery
  • Paper clips
  • Electrical tape

Setup:

Straighten two paper clips and tape one to each terminal of the battery. Be careful not to let the wires touch, as this could cause them to heat up. You can set this up ahead of time or during the lesson.

Lesson:

How much does God love you? The Bible says He loves you with an everlasting love—a love that will never fade away. But if He loves us that much, why does He allow bad things to happen? Shouldn't He want our lives to be easy and free of problems?
